Choose how records open

Updated November 5, 2026 · Applies to Platform ONE 1.45

Records open full screen: beside the menu, under the top bar, with the menu and top bar still available. You can choose to open them in a side panel instead, with the list still in view, or in a window over the page.

Platform ONE remembers your choice on your account. Every record you open afterwards, on any computer, opens the same way until you choose again.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the record.

Choose a view

  1. Open a record.
  2. Select the view button beside Close in the record's title bar.
  3. Select Full screen, Side panel or Window.

The record changes view straight away. Anything you've typed and not yet saved stays as it is.

View Best for
Full screen Working on one record. On a wide screen, its fields are set out in two columns.
Side panel Going through a list: the list stays in view, and selecting another row opens it in the panel.
Window A quick look, over the page you're on.

Move through a list

In full screen and in the side panel, a record opened from a list shows where it is in the list, for example 3 of 25. Select the up and down arrows next to it to open the previous or next record.

Share or return to a record

A record you open from a list has its own web address. You can:

  • Copy the address from your browser to send a colleague straight to the record.
  • Reload the page, and the record opens again.
  • Select your browser's Back button to close the record and return to the list.

Long records

In full screen and in the side panel, a long record, such as a customer, is split into tabs, for example Details, Bookings and Email. In a window, the parts follow one another.

Open and remove records from a list

In a list, select a record's name to open it. To remove a record, open it and select Remove, on the left of its buttons. Platform ONE asks Are you sure you want to remove record, followed by its name, before removing it.

Changes you haven't saved

If you've changed a record and not saved it, Platform ONE asks before you leave it, whether you select another page in the menu, open another record, or go back. Select Keep editing to stay, or Discard changes to leave without saving.

On a phone

On a phone, records always fill the screen under the top bar, and the view button isn't shown. Your choice still applies when you go back to a computer.

Short questions, such as asking you to confirm a cancellation, always appear in a window.
