Quickstart: Set up your first project
Updated October 30, 2026 · Applies to Stakeholder ONE 1.3
In this quickstart, you set up a project from scratch: you create the customer's account, add its sponsor as a stakeholder, create the project, and plan a milestone and a risk. It takes about ten minutes.
Prerequisites
- A Stakeholder ONE account with a role that can create accounts and projects, such as Project Manager. See Sign in to Stakeholder ONE.
Create the account
- Select Accounts in the top bar, and then select New account.
- Enter the Account name, set Type to Customer, and select Create.
Add the sponsor as a stakeholder
- Select Stakeholders, and then select Add stakeholder.
- Enter the sponsor's Name, Role and Email, and choose the account you just created in Account.
- Set an Engagement level (1-10), and select Add.
Create the project
- Select Projects, and then select New project.
- Enter a Title and a Start date, choose your Account, and choose the stakeholder you added as Sponsor.
- Enter a Budget if you have one, and select Create.
Plan a milestone
- In your new project, select the Schedule tab, and then select Add event.
- Enter a Title, such as "Kick-off complete", set Type to Milestone, choose a Date, and save.
The milestone appears on the timeline and Gantt chart.
Log a risk
- Select the Risks tab, and then select Add risk.
- Enter a Title, choose the Likelihood and Impact, describe the Mitigation, and select Save.
Your project now has an account, a sponsor, a milestone and a risk. It appears on the Dashboards, under My projects on the My Activities tab.
